In a new start-up competition called "The Venture", which is supported by the "Servicezentrum für Forschung und Transfer" in Jena, students are given the opportunity to develop an already existing patent-protected technology into a complete business model.

For the first time, a start-up competition in which founders don't have to come up with the technology by themselves is launched in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In the competition called "The Venture", students are given the opportunity to develop an already existing patent-protected technology into a complete business model. In this way, "The Venture" follows the goal of building a bridge between inventive creativeness and entrepreneurial spirit. Availabe technologies vary greatly from a driving assistant for seniors through a disinfection set for surgery to a Carsharing API (a selection of them can be found hereExternal link).

Until the 15th of August, students and other interested people can apply in a team or as lone fighters under www.the-venture.infoExternal link. Participants then develop their idea together with a mentor over a period of three months. The final pitch takes place in the beginning of December 2015.

Currently, the project is supported by over 60 universities and other institutions, amongst them the "Servicezentrum für Forschung und Transfer de" in Jena. "The Venture" is organized on behalf of the "Förderkreis Gründungs-Forschung e.V. (FGF)", the leading scientific association for entrepreneurship, innovation and middle class in the German-speaking area.

Please find more information about "The Venture" on their HomepageExternal link, FacebookExternal link or Twitter pageExternal link.

The Technology Transfer Research group strongly encourages all students to take up this unique opportunity and to try out the entire process of developing and idea into a business model in the framework of this competition!
